In A Week: February 21 to 27, 2016

In A Week is our look back at Hozier highlights and happenings from the previous week.

February 21 to 27, 2016

Hozier’s tour manager, Jake Ryan, won Tour Manager of The Year at the  TPi Awards for crew and production! This year the award was in honour of legendary tour manager to U2 and Led Zeppelin, Denis Sheehan, who passed away last May.

Hozier congratulated the crew and Jake on the win in his stage introductions the next night in Montreux.

Hozier’s album was certified Platinum in Norway, while Take Me To Church was certified 7x Platinum!

The Associated Press released another snip from an earlier interview with Hozier.

Hozier did some promo this week in Europe:

Swiss radio interview (French) from Montreux on RTS speaking about Cherry Wine and how all songs make a political statement.

Interview with the accompanying photos on 20 Minutes.

And Hozier spoke with TV2 about Cherry Wine backstage in Oslo.

This week, we have gig highlights from these shows:

February 21: Köln / Cologne, Germany
February 23: Montreux, Switzerland
February 25: Vienna, Austria
February 27: Oslo, Norway

We’re counting down the to the final shows before the end of the tour this coming Thursday.

February 28: Stockholm, Sweden
February 29: Copenhagen, Denmark
March 3: Istanbul, Turkey: Tour Finale

After almost two years on the road, Hozier will take a good break to rest and rejuvenate before working on the next album.

Hozier’s good friend Stevie Appleby created this dark cartoon that we adore.

The “censored” gruesome conclusion is here.

Behind the Scenes

We came across this great piece about Rory Doyle arranging for BIMM students to attend soundcheck at the show in Berlin and their thoughts on the experience.

The band got out and about on a day off in Montreux, Switzerland.

The beauty of Switzerland 😍😍😍

Wyvern Lingo

Our friends Wyvern Lingo released their newest song in advance of their 4 March EP release and music journalist Nialler9 had this to say:

“‘Beast At The Door’ has Caoimhe Barry, Saoirse Duane and Karen Cowley confounding expectations somewhat with a song that delves into an suspenseful filmic darkness and the warning that “she will eat us alive,” as the song grows to match that foreboding warning.”

Wyvern Lingo will also be heading to the Great Escape Festival in Brighton in May and Kerry in April.

Saint Sister

This duo played their first gig in Paris, opening for Oh Wonder and it went very, very well.

Saint Sister also announced upcoming summer festival dates for Yorkshire, Cork,  Co. Westmeath, and Co. Louth, in addition to their 8 March date in Belfast.

Stoneface Films

Season 2, Episodes 9 and 10 of the Stoneface Podcast were released. And the crew shot the new video for Hermitage Green, Make It Better.
