What’s Next for Hozier’s Guitars

What's next HG? 2016-03-02 at 8.22.02 PM

When we started on this virtual road trip 10 months ago, we could not have possibly imagined continuing Hozier’s Guitars beyond the end of the tour.

To be honest, we weren’t even sure that we’d make it through the summer.

But we never anticipated how warmly we would be embraced.

Where We’ve Been

Last May, we started live-tweeting photos and videos from Hozier’s concerts as fans uploaded them in real-time to Twitter and Instagram.

We wanted to share the excitement of Hozier’s live show with fans around the world who could not attend the concerts.backstage at V from Fla 2015-08-22 at 2.48.57 PM

We live-tweeted every show (except 3 with next-day highlights) for 5 months – 92 gigs in total.following live 2015-09-16 at 9.39.14 AM

Beginning with the Fall Australian tour, we switched the format to gig highlights and published them on Storify, then later to our website.

With gig highlights, we’ve covered another 26 live shows, with an additional 11 not yet published.

Over the last 10 months, fans at shows have snapped pictures of the guitars and Murt (Hozier’s guitar tech) just to send to us. That you would include Hozier’s Guitars so often in your personal live experience is something we never dreamt would happen. We’re both honoured and humbled.

Way Home Guitars

Of course, we’ve done much more than cover live shows.

We’ve brought you background on the guitars, published special features, profiles on band members and friends, anniversary specials, news updates, appearance coverage, chart and awards information, weekly highlights, #TBT posts and more.

McHale HotPress-Dylan Guitar 2015-07-27 at 11.01.55 AMWe’ve strived to be a reliable and consistent source of Hozier news and information for fans. Because that’s what you deserve. And that’s what Hozier deserves.

It’s been a joy.

But it’s also been a tremendous amount of work for all involved. No sleep

So, here we sit at the end of the tour wondering about our future.

Our Next Steps

We’ve made the decision to continue Hozier’s Guitars, but in a greatly reduced capacity. After keeping pace with Hozier online for almost a year, we need a break too.

We’ll finish up our loose ends for gig highlights and post them over the coming weeks. There’s also a profile piece in production that we’ll publish soon.

With Hozier disappearing for a while to rest and regenerate, there won’t be much news to report. And with the band all off on new projects, it may be some time before we catch up with them again.

We have ideas for the kinds of posts that we might do and we’ll be working out a realistic publishing schedule so that we don’t make promises that we can’t keep.

Here’s Where You Come In

We want to hear from you.

  • Tell us what we can do to help sustain you during Hozier’s hiatus.
  • What kinds of things would you like to see us publish?
  • Is there something you’ve wanted to see that hasn’t yet been done?

To make it easy, please answer this super-quick 3 question survey:

You can also send us a message on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, or use the form below.

Thank you so much for your tremendous support! We’re looking forward to the next chapter…
