Work Song (full)

This video features lovely words about Mavis Staples and Chicago, the band and crew introduction, and a minor lyric goof-up from Hozier.

Last time I was in your amazing city, it was a day to record with Mavis Staples—on Nina Cried Power—somebody who in my mind is absolute royalty… is a sovereign queen of my heart. It was an amazing experience and something I’ll forever be incredibly grateful to experience. So thank you for that, too. Thank you for Mavis Staples. Thank you for that memory, as well.

Here’s an additional clip of Work Song that offers some great views of Alex and the rest of the band.

Shrike (full)

Another song interrupted by a medical emergency in the crowd. Overheating and dehydration are no joke, so please take care of yourselves at gigs!

Interviews

Hozier spoke with Allison Stewart from the Chicago Tribune.

In the clip below, Marty Rosenbaum at 93XRT chatted with Hozier about the blues and meeting Mavis Staples.

22 September 2018

Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival – Franklin, TN

Sadly, Pilgrimage was canceled due to lightning before Hozier took the stage but he did have time to do some promo. He spoke with Vinyl Emergency about the importance of vinyl.

Take Me to Church

Hozier’s performance of Take Me To Church continues to evolve as he grows used to performing it without a guitar. We love the hands getting into the action now!

Hozier addressing the crowd:

“I appreciate that most of you have taken your seat allocations as mere suggestions. This is to be encouraged. So thank you, just do your thing.”

New York City can be a fabulous place for celebrity encounters.

Hozier had a chance to hang out with Aisling Bea and Paul Rudd. And he swapped selfies with Astro Katie!

After a trip to see Springsteen on Broadway, he was thrilled to meet the man, the legend, the Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen.

Interviews

Hozier spoke with Eric Holland at WFUV Public Radio on 28 September 2018. He was a guest DJ on All Songs Considered and interviewed by Bob Boilen. Larry Flick at SiriusXM had a great interview with Hozier (may be paywall restricted for some). And Jonathan Clarke interviewed him for Q104.3, below.
