March 2017

Mar 19: Take Me To Church was a featured song in a contemporary ballet piece danced by Denise McCormack & Ryan McShane on Dancing With The Stars on RTE.

Mar 17: Happy Birthday Hozier!

Mar 10: San Francisco-based non-profit, Bread and Roses, announced via Facebook that Hozier will be playing an intimate acoustic set at their fundraiser on May 18. The show will take place at the Great American Music Hall (600 capacity). Fundraising tickets are $125 to $350 and are available here.

Bread and Roses Presents brings hope, healing and joy through live music to those who are isolated in a variety of institutions in eight counties around the Bay Area. Founded in 1974 by the late singer-songwriter/guitarist Mimi Fariña, the nonprofit organization presents over 600 free live concerts a year in over 120 facilities to 34,000 audience members. Nearly two-thirds of its programs are hosted by volunteers.

Mar 8: Hozier took part in the #Strike4Repeal march that took place in Dublin as part of International Women’s Day.

February 2017

Feb 24: Hozier gives a shout to Gypsies on the Autobahn on the release of their debut album.

Feb 22: The discovery of 7 Earth-sized planets orbiting a single star was great news.

Feb 18: Mourning the loss of Clyde Stubblefield, James Brown’s legendary drummer, renowned for a solo on Funky Drummer that was “sampled on over 1,000 songs and served as the backbeat for countless hip-hop tracks.”

Feb 14: Sadsacks get some love.

Feb 11: James Corden spoke to the LA Times about his favourite Grammy performances, citing Hozier & Annie Lennox from 2015 and calling it a “master class”. Turns out, he’s a Hozier fan. “I’m telling you, he’s the real deal. You need to listen.”

January 2017

Jan 23: Forbes included Better Love on its top 10 picks for Best Original Song at the Oscars. “While The Legend Of Tarzan wasn’t necessarily a critical favorite, one song from the film stands out as a must-hear.” (Jan 24: Better Love was not included on the list of nominations.)

Take Me To Church is #1 on the iTunes chart in Uzbekistan.

Jan 21: Hozier had a message of solidarity for those who were marching in Ireland and around the world that he posted to Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

Jan 19: Sergei Polunin, who famously danced ballet to Take Me To Church, will be doing it again live on March 2. The event will be live streamed to cinemas in the UK to coincide with the premiere of the biopic, Dancer. The video of the original performance was released in February 2015 and has nearly 18 million views on YouTube.

Jan 18: Ben Affleck talks about using Arsonist’s Lullabye in his new movieLive By Night.

Jan 16: 3.5 years after its release in Ireland, Take Me To Church is #3 on Ukraine’s iTunes chart.

Jan 11: Hozier took part in the panel discussion on feminism at IMP Hour, an event created by Faye O’Rourke and Susannah Appleby. (A wrap-up post on the event will be forthcoming. ~HG)

Jan 5: Hozier’s most played Spotify songs of 2016 puzzled even him.
